Educational Factor

The graphics on the surface of The Park of Dreams represent the history and culture of Haywood County. It is our belief as a committee that if we are going to build something of substantial expense that our community will utilize for many years, we should absolutely find a way to incorporate education into the project.

We asked Craig Robinson of 3 Sons Creative in Brownsville to design graphics on the turf of the playground that would represent our region.
*the cream color represents a map of Haywood County
*the river represents the Hatchie River
*the musical notes represent the history of the blues music
*the cotton represents the agriculture
*the mallard represents the wildlife and nature
*the railroad represents the history of the railroad

Turf Design

Incorporated into the playset itself is a train and a firetruck that will be personalized to reflect the everyday heroes of Haywood County.

To bring it all together, our plan is to incorporate panels that will be built into the playset as well as free-standing in the park that will include current and historical facts about Haywood County. Children seem to have a strong ability to learn when they are having fun, so it is our belief that children and families that “grow up” in this Park of Dreams will come away having learned something about where they live.
